Audio Link Player

I have a problem with the mp3's being large files, and not loading before the player is able to press play, so the files freeze up. Could you tell me if there is a way to set the settings on the player so that it won't play until it's done downloading?
    • 05. Juni 2010
In which player appear this problem? How large is the file exactly? (Length and file size.) I have to reproduce the error at first then can i help you (maybe) ;)

Your plugin is a great solution! I am surprised Wordpress does not install with a similar plugin. I do have a weird problem though. To get the player to work I have to: 1. I have to click the link 2. Have the sound file play in the new window 3. Go back to the page and now the player works If I click the player first, it says "error opening file". Thank you for the help, Nathan
    • 11. Juni 2010
Hm, can you send me a link to an example of this error?
  • 14. Juni 2010
I have the player activated, however, you need to click on the link which then brings you to a new page in order to get the player to work. It also shows up very small. How do I get it on the main post and have it a normal size, the way it is on okayplayer.com?
    • 15. Juni 2010
Which player? In-line, Single-line, JwPlayer? Link to the problem, please. What means "main post"? How big is "normal size"? You can change the size values in the Javascript. I do not see any players on okayplayer.com.

Its labeled as Audio Link Player. Go to http://rapradar.com/ See how under some stories there is an audio player? Now go to my site, thesoundloft.com and type in The Roots in the search box. In the first story that comes up, see how it only shows the title of the song at the bottom? Click it and it takes you to another page with the player on it. See the difference? I want the player to be the same size as it is on rapradar.com and I want it below the story... not on a seperate page. Does that make sense?
  • 21. Juni 2010
Hi, is there a way where I can show an actual player, like Windows Media Player, where you can actually see all the songs that are going to play? Like, a normal playlist, instead just one song after another?
    • 22. Juni 2010
Hi Robine, unfortunately this is not possible in the current version but i also thought about this and i think i will add this in a future release.
  • 22. Juni 2010
Thanks for your quick response and I will be looking forward to it :) in the meanwhile, I really enjoyed this plug-in.
  • 24. Juni 2010
Is it possible to revert back to version 1.1?
    • 24. Juni 2010
Downgrade is never a solution. Whats your problem with the new version?
  • 25. Juni 2010
It works fine, but aesthetically, I just liked the look of the previous version..the player with the rounded edges
    • 25. Juni 2010
Did you try to set the height of the player to 24px? Or is this not possible for your design?
  • 25. Juni 2010
It is possible, and that's what I've done, but I liked the smaller size of the previous player.
    • 25. Juni 2010
Did you already see: I've added a new option "use the classic player"? I hope this makes you happy. :)
  • 26. Juni 2010
    Appreciate it!

Your plugin looks awesome, but in testing it out it doesn't appear to be working. I'm using Wordpress 3. The plugin is active, I'm using PHP5, I even tried disabling cache. The mp3 files I'm trying to test with are uploaded using the wordpress media uploader. Can you think of why I'm not seeing any players show up?
    • 29. Juni 2010
Can you post a link to one of your posts with mp3 links please?

Sure! http://awesomelymodest.com/blog/2010/06/28/testing/ Thanks for the quick response!
    • 29. Juni 2010
Did you try to deactivate the other plugins to find out which one is the evildoer? At first glance i can see more than one plugin which includes jQuery. ^^

AHA! Thickbox, you dirty little monkey.... I'll have to see if there's an updated version of that that doesn't bork things. Thanks!

If you want to try an alternative light box take a look at this plugin: Fancy Gallery. ;) It's fully WP3 compatible!

Hi Dennis, Protecting mp3 files from download is a concern - is there any way to possibly mask the direct link in the source?
    • 30. Juni 2010
No thats not possible. Please bring this to mind: If you play a mp3 song in the flash player it will be downloaded from the server to your computer (as a temp file somewhere in the cache directory of your browser) and played like a local file in your MediaPlayer. So you can do what you want, if there is someone who wants file he will get it.

I downloaded and activated the plugin for audio link player. stupid question.....now what do I do? How do I place a link on my site and where? doesn't it have to be stored on a server somewhere?
    • 30. Juni 2010
Hm, maybe the handling is just too easy as you can imagine... Did you already take a look at the plugin page? ;)
  • 04. Juli 2010
When you right mouse click there are additional features such as download, add song to webjay playlist and about Hideout that actually links to: http://www.hideout.com.br/blog/ How do I remove those and especially that link. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    • 04. Juli 2010
Hi Mack, thanks for this notice. These links are build in by the flash developer himself. I don't know if you can remove it but i will take an eye at this problem and try to solve it in future releases.
  • 05. Juli 2010
That would be very good. Thank you. I am using the in line with the little circle player. Is there a way to change the size?

Hi Dennis, Came across a strange bug in Safari 4. When i post a link and use the audio player the body text for that page goes into what looks like unaliased rendering. But even stranger it only does it on my Mac... viewing the page from another compiter looks fine. any ideas? I have a screenshot i can email if you like? Thanks, Craig
    • 09. Juli 2010
Hm, sound like a problem with your Mac. Do you have the same problem with other browsers on the same computer?
  • Craig
    09. Juli 2010
Thanks for a speedy reply! No, only Safari. Looks fine in Firefox. Very bizarre! If i remove the post with the audio player the text goes back to normal!
  • 14. Juli 2010
Hey Dennis - Thanks for the work you put in to this plug-in. It works great, and will be super easy for the client I designed the site for to update. Is there an option to stop the currently playing song if people click on another audio link? We have a list of about 8 songs right now, and people can start them all at the same time... Thanks again, Erin
    • 14. Juli 2010
Hi Erin, to play 8 songs at the same time is feature i really miss in iTunes! ;) No, in earnest: I know about this problem but at the moment i do not see any way to avoid multiple playings but i'm working on it! I hope to can fix it in the near future.

Hi Dennis Your plugin is great, but I would need to start playing when the page opens. Is there any place where I can enable autoplay? Thanks Marta
    • 20. Juli 2010
Hi Marta, this feature is not included at the moment but i thought already about. Maybe i will include it in future releases. ;)
    • 30. August 2010
hi.. fantastic plugin. thanks for the work.. to set player for autoplay when load page try this: var flash_vars = { autoplay: 'true' }; in player-js.php work for me.. grande abraço, yoda..

Hey Dennis! I see your plugin EVERYWHERE and I really wanna use it! BUT I cannot get it to work no matter what I try. I'm building a site which must have galleries and also will have video and mp3 jukebox players. I want to use your player to put on News posts, etc. How do i get it to work? I had lightbox, disabled it and that didn't work. I disabled almost all my other plugins - that didn't work. Then there is the point that if I disable all plugins then it won't be a fully functioning site. Do you have a twitter I can DM a link to you at? Cheers Yinka
    • 20. Juli 2010
Hi Yinka, do you use PHP5? Can you see the Settings page of the Audio Link Player? Can you send me link to your website please?

Hi Dennis very very nice plugin, im using wp 2.9.2 the plugin works fine (im using the inline player) when i click the play icon works, but when i click the song name open the quicktime player in new window. How can i resolve this, i mean i need to only click on plays button. Thanks
    • 22. Juli 2010
Hi Richard, by default the user can download the mp3 file with a click on the link. There is an option for your browser you can set up which file types should be open with which program. I guess the Quick Time Player on your computer sets Quick Time as default opening program for MP3 files... So that's not controllable by the Audio Link Player. ;)

Hello I've used your plugin on a demo site, It Worked fine. then when I changed site, it doesn't work anymore. I can't see the setting page and your message. It doesn't work on images. It's the same theme with same plugins. Could you help me please ? Thank's
    • 23. Juli 2010
Hi Isabelle, your demo site runs with PHP5 but the new site does not. Maybe you have to change the PHP version from 4 to 5 at your providers web admin panel.

when using this plugin how do you prevent users from downloading your content (music) directly from the player?
    • 27. Juli 2010
If the user listens to an mp3 it is already on the computer. So if you want to prevent the user from downloading the first step should be deleting the file from the server!?

Great work, btw! I was just wondering if there is anyway to take the "" tag out that is generated next to the "" code?

If you cannot see the setting panel you are using the wrong PHP version. Please recheck you are using 5.2 or higher.

My player also didn't appear and I found another solution to fix the problem. Now it's working properly. Here we go: Look up if the following lines are included in your theme's footer.php and header.php: just before the closing tag in footer.php, and just before the closing tag in your header.php. Thanks for that awesome plugin!
    • 17. August 2010
Kate, of course you need the wp_head() call inside the header. Thats one the guidelines a valid WordPress Theme has to follow. If your theme does not follow this guideline you should write an (very very) angry mail to the theme author. ;) For other readers: Read this: http://wpaudioplayer.com/support/troubleshooting.
